Nankang Tyres

We have been approached with an offer from NANKANG to supply us with a control tyres for our Championship, just about all commnets made so far are positive, however we have raised a number of questions. At this early stage I can't answer all the questions but would comment on a few of the points raised as follows;

1.      Are they road legal.

        Yes, they are E marked.

2.     Will they definitely be in the MSA List of Approved Tyres for 2013.

        The MSA are meeting in the next couple of weks. the Nanakang NS2R is up for approval and there is no reason to think it will be rejected.

3.    ZR's use a 195x50x16 - is this size available.

       Yes.

4.    What is the tread depth.

       7mm.

5.     Will all sizes be available on request.

        Nankang's UK motorsport agent are a very experienced outfit and they are 100% committed to having all sizes available (not always the case with Yokohama !1).

6.    Will Nankang give circuit support.

       They have offered to send their service truck to all MGOC race meetings if we want it.

Nankang's UK motorsport agents will be at Oulton around mid-day with a couple of sample tyres for you to have a look at.

I want to make it clear that I am not forcing a change to Nankang.  I'm well aware that it is a big decision and the decision will be made solely by you the drivers. I'd suggest that any change would require the approval of a majority, say 75%, of registered drivers who actually offer an opinion.

DRIVERS MEETING

BARC have advised that they will be using a Safety Car to control circuit incidents.  The Clerk of the Course has called a Drivers Meeting to explain the relevant procedures, all MGOC drivers must attend.

At believe this meeting will be held at 11.15 in the room above Race Control but do check this at signing-on.
