Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Championship

 

 

 

The idea of running a race Championship was spawned over the winter of 1980 by a few enthusiasts MGOC members who wanted to race relatively standard cars rather than having to mix it with the highly modified cars in other Championships.

The British Automobile Racing Club were approached and things moved forward very quickly with the first ever MGOC race taking place at Brands Hatch on 7th June 1981. Just eight cars were on the grid for that first race with Dr “Spike” Milligan taking the inaugural win in his MGA.    

The 2015 season sees the Championship celebrating 35 years of MG racing. Predictably, things have changed in that time with the ever popular MGBs and Midgets being joined by Maestros, MGFs and ZS120/ZR160 saloons. The addition of these new models has moved the Championship on but the original philosophy hasn’t changed in that all cars remain basically standard with only minor performance modifications allowed. This gives drivers the opportunity to race together with cars of similar performance thus reducing costs and giving close and affordable racing....
